35 Things To Do When You Have Too Much Free Time

Finally! I’ve graduated college and started working 40 hours a week. That means no more homework and no more classes. That means no waking up at 9:00am for your 10:00am class and no seeing your friends everyday in class. That also means, a hell of a lot of free time on the weekends.

I always envisioned free time as an oasis, something that will be glorious when I finally can experience it, but it turns out I’ve forgotten what I like to do for fun. I told my dad that it feels like I’ve been freed from years in dark captivity and I don’t know how to handle the big world.

This weekend is being a longer weekend in honor of Memorial Day, I thought I would write about 35 things that you could do when you have too much free time.

  1. Sleep, nap and sleep again.
  2. Clean out the pantry.
  3. Clean out your closet.
  4. Do laundry.
  5. Create a vision book.
  6. Garden
  7. Buy random things.
  8. Read a book.
  9. Paint a picture.
  10. Sketch a picture.
  11. Scrub the bathroom.
  12. Listen to a podcast.
  13. Go to the gym.
  14. Make a budget.
  15. Watch a movie.
  16. Write a letter to someone far away.
  17. Call someone far away.
  18. Organize the tool box.
  19. Read about garden pests.
  20. Pinterest about anything and everything.
  21. Watch funny, adorable baby/ animal videos.
  22. Donate your extra things to Goodwill.
  23. Sew things you’ve been meaning to sew for too long.
  24. Vacuum the house.
  25. Start a grocery list.
  26. Check your credit score.
  27. Play with your pets.
  28. Organize photos for printing.
  29. Put on a face mask.
  30. Paint your nails.
  31. Write a blog post.
  32. Start a journal.
  33. Cook/bake for fun.
  34. Wash your car.
  35. Wash the dishes.

I am on day two of this three day weekend and I have done 28/35 of these things. You can imagine how bored I am! I hope to write posts more frequently and start to feel more inspired. I’m trying out kickboxing next weekend so we’ll see if that kicks me into gear. It should be quite the experience!

What do you like to do in your free time? I’d love to hear about it and maybe give it a try! I’ll post pictures of my attempt at art and my sketch from this weekend on my Instagram so be sure to check it out!

    1. On the rare day I can have an unproductive day but with a busy schedule I feel it’s a waste of an opportunity! Although, I do love the mindfulness that can come from cleaning, sorting, sketching and painting. I love a clean inbox! Thank you for your response
